whole note - musical notation, a four beat note designated by an open oval. The example below shows a whole note in the second measure.
whole tone - or tone, or whole step. An interval between two notes that are two semitones apart, for example the distance between the note C and the note D is a tone. A whole tone scale is a scale with only whole tones and no semitones. A scale with only semitones is called a chromatic scale.
workstation - This term is mostly associated with computers. In music, any keyboard or synthesizer which has multiple functions, especially multi track recording, is called a workstation. Workstations are used commonly by songwriters, composers and arrangers.
