manager - someone who has the closest professional and sometimes personal relationship with an artist, someone who has a full connection to and represents the artist. A manager usually represents only one or two artists. Their work is to deal with all the business and sometimes personal aspects of the artist's life and career so the artist can devote themselves to their art. Managers fees are usually from 15 to 20 % of everything an artist earns including songwriting, CD sales, book deals, voice overs, acting and touring.
marketing - songs, CD's, DVD's, posters, photos, tee shirts are just a few things that can be sold in stores, on line, on tour etc.
midi - short for musical instrument digital interface, most commonly connecting a keyboard to a computer.
major - usually refers to a scale, chord or interval. The major scale consists of Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti and octave Do. A major chord or triad consists of the root, third and fifth. Examples of major scales are:

mixer - the component of a sound system which controls volume, tone and effects. Also part of a recording program with the same function. Usually the controls incorporate knobs and or sliders. Microphones or electronic instruments such as keyboards or guitars are plugged into the mixer which is in turn connected to the line in of an amplifier. Speakers are then powered by the amplifier.
medium - a type of substance used to encode data. For recording purposes, vinyl, tape, disc and cassette are examples.
