kick - kick drum, bass drum, the largest drum in the kit which sits directly on the floor. A foot pedal is attached and the drum is beat by stepping down on the pedal. A double kick is when the drummer has two bass drums played with both feet. The kick drum usually plays the down beat, the first and third beat of a measure.
karaoke - a form of entertainment where people sing to a band track while reading the lyrics on a video screen. It is a Japanese word literally translated as "empty orchestra", meaning a music track without the vocal.
key - or key signature. There are a possible fifteen different key signatures.
