harmony - two or more differing notes played or sung together such as a Do with a Re called seconds, a Do with a Mi called thirds, a Do with a Fa called fourths, a Do with a So (or Sol) called fifths, a Do with a La called sixths and a Do with a Ti called major sevenths. There are also minor thirds, diminished fifths, augmented fifths, sevenths, minor sevenths, ninths, elevenths and thirteenths. Harmonies can be two part, three part, four part, and five part or more.
harmonics - the bare essential tone of any sound without overtones. A string harmonic can be created by lightly touching the string at one of the harmonic points such as the middle of it's length and plucking it.
hammering - producing a note on a stringed instrument by plucking a note, then firmly pressing down on a higher note on the same string without plucking the second note. It is possible to play several notes without plucking the strings at all. Because of the volume drop off when hammering, it is most effectively played on an electric instrument that can be turned up in volume.
