Hello Bowtown Music Students,
We hope you had a wonderful summer! Our summer has been busy setting up Bowtown’s new studio/store at 6425
Bowness Rd. We have two teaching rooms in our new location & instruments, accessories and books. It was great
seeing some of you for lessons or a visit. Thanks for dropping by to say hello.
Our New Teachers! We are fortunate & particular about the instructors we hire at Bowtown Music. Our new teachers
are talented, diverse & committed to teaching in a knowledgeable, supportive, inspiring way. We welcome them &
want to introduce them to you. Here is their short bio.
Oliver Carter-Wells came from a musical family who inspired him at a young age to study piano & guitar. His
development & understanding of music is shown through his performance as a teacher & live stage presence. He is
a multi-instrumental musician & teacher providing lessons in vocal, piano, guitar, bass, banjo & mandolin. In addition
to teaching, Oliver is the lead vocal & guitar in the band ‘Funk Nasty’.
Kate Lauchlan is an award winning pianist & singer. One of her many credits include winning outstanding solo in
vocals & piano at the Essentially Ellington Jazz competition in New York. Although she can teach many styles she is
especially adept at teaching pop vocals or classical/jazz piano. Kate’s expertise along with her patient & supportive
approach is key to her popularity as a teacher.
Debra Robinson is a seasoned performer & teacher. She is the former director of the Irene Besse Academy of
Music. Her influences are widespread from early era folk & blues roots, right through to contemporary. Her expertise
includes teaching piano/guitar & performance preparation. Her skills as a musician, teacher, composer & singer have
had numerous complimentary reviews. Her humour, patience & standards are a delight for any student.

Kensington Studio - Our Kensington studio line up of teachers are: Monday-Oliver, Tuesday & Thursday –Kuba,
Wednesday – Debra, Friday-Dalene.
As you can see, we are excited about Bowtown’s roster of new and existing instructors. We look forward to this new
school year and seeing you again.
